Chapter Thirty-One
Jules
âDo we think it will be today, or it's too soon?" I asked the table in general. We sat at the large dining table, I was still working on the enormous breakfast Dallas had plated for me, while everyone else continued working on our plan to entrap Mikael. I was proud of myself that I could actually think his name now without having a full body reaction.
"It is possible that he shows today, but more likely that he won't make a move right away," Raife answered me, looking up from his laptop. I knew that this could be more than a few days of waiting and thought I was prepared but apparently, I was wrong as I was already feeling confined in the suite.
"We've already spotted a number of vampires in town, so it's safe to assume that word will spread quickly about Landis," Dallas added. "He won't be able to resist getting his hands on the Fae Prince."
I grasped my fork a bit too tightly, the metal bending around my finger. The thought of Mikael getting a hold of Landis was making my heart beat a bit too fast and I didn't like it. My feelings about Landis were conflicted but I did know that I don't want him hurt and I had no doubt that Mikael would hurt him. Raife kissed my cheek, whispering in my ear. "We will not allow Landis to be hurt sweetheart. Mikael will not get to him." I took Raife's hand, pressing a kiss to his palm before I headed back to the bedroom.
I was laying on the bed flipping through the channels when the door opened and Dallas and Raife came in together. The news was reporting on riots that had erupted in some big cities when citizens were denied access to the banks and unable to get their money. It was only a matter of time before the vampires came forward to "rescue" the country and install themselves as leaders.
"We're running out of time," Dallas said, the gravity in his voice making my insides clench. "We may have to take action sooner than we want, but we can't let them announce themselves to the public," Raife said, his eyes finding mine. I nodded at him, my resolve hardening and I knew that I would do whatever it took to protect what was mine. Raife smiled, obviously understanding my position.
"I'm heading out for a few hours, Jay and Ren will be with me. Anything you need me to bring back love?" Dallas strode to me, plucking me up off the bed and squeezing me to his chest. "Just yourself Dallas, that's all I need." He pressed his lips to mine before tossing me back onto the bed and heading for the door. "You got it love."
I laughed as I bounced on the bed and Raife grinned right along with me. I turned the tv off and swung my legs off the side of the bed. "What can I do to help
